OPEN DAYS FOR 2009
The open day season at the Blagdon Visitor Centre is now over. If you visited us this summer and enjoyed the experience, do come again next year --and tell your friends! Dates for next year’s season will be posted on the website next spring.
The open day experience
A visit to the Blagdon Visitor Centre is a great way to find out just how much work goes into supplying water to our customers. But it’s far from being dry as dust stuff - visitors enjoy the experience and the surroundings and come back again time after time. Since we began these free events 13 years ago, well over 350,000 people have visited them.
The Centre not only houses historic beam pumping engines - one of which works almost as it would have done under steam a century ago -- but also a series of exhibition rooms featuring interactive displays, videos and historic items. Audio guides help visitors understand what they are seeing.
Outside, in the beautiful grounds, there are nature trails and also the chance to feed thousands of trout.
